Ken Patterson
For Tauranga City Council
Otumoetai – Matua Ward
I bring a unique set of skills, acquired over a long and varied career, making me the ideal advocate for the people of Otumoetai and Matua.
Our City Needs Experienced Leadership
The role of a Councillor is to provide governance, independence, without partiality.
It requires the ability to read, understand, and critique financial accounts, and reports provided by staff and others.
These are my very skills.
Experience is the Key Factor
In a world swirling with misinformation, disinformation, and constant change, EXPERIENCE is the one quality that can act as stabilising influence.
As a lawyer and barrister for over 3 decades, I have acquired the skills to see through the murk and mists that this world throws up.
Experience
Focus on the Important
While youthful energy, and passionate advocacy for causes is admirable and important in todays society, they are not the attributes required in governance roles.
Governance requires oversight, critical thinking, and having a balanced viewpoint, not coloured by fixed stances on any issue.
Focus
Commitment
I am dedicated to representing our community with unwavering integrity, listening to your concerns, and taking decisive action to address them. My promise to you is to work tirelessly to improve our local services, enhance public safety, and support sustainable development that benefits all residents.
Commitment
As an independent candidate for the Otūmoetai and Matua ward, I bring a diverse background. I was born and grew up in Whanganui, lived in Australia for a few years and returned to Whanganui and worked in my family’s building business. I then moved to Auckland to study law. For 17 years, Matua has been our home. I’ve served on the governance boards of Bellevue Primary School and Otūmoetai College during our children’s schooling.
With a BA in Psychology and an Honours degree in Law, I’ve practiced as a commercial lawyer for three decades. Additionally, I’ve successfully managed businesses and served as a director for multiple companies, mastering financial management.
Mission & Values
My council priorities are clear:
- reduce wasteful spending,
- enhance competence,
- prioritise community interests.
Let’s do what our ratepayers want for our community. I’m passionate about the Matua and Otūmoetai area and am eager to represent its residents on the Council.
Please give me your 1 vote this election
